The Trustees of the Mindfulness Initiative are absolutely delighted to announce that Richard Edwards will shortly be joining the organisation as its new Director. Formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Huggard, a homeless charity in Wales, Richard brings with him a wealth of experience in strategy, leadership and organisational development, as well as embedding mindfulness in all of his work through his own practice, and his training as a mindfulness teacher with Breathworks.

Katie White, Chair of Trustees for the Mindfulness Initiative notes “Richard’s passion for mindfulness, combined with his experience as the busy CEO of an organisation he played a key role in growing, is going to be invaluable in taking our charity into its exciting next chapter. Following the launch of our upcoming ‘Mindfulness in Westminster' report, we can’t wait to work with Richard on leveraging our unique platform as a policy institute to integrate the evidence on mindfulness and compassion training with pressing public policy needs and concerns.”

Richard adds “At a time when the level of disconnect in our society appears to be exponentially on the rise, I’m looking forward to leading an organisation that connects the evidence for inner work to the external work of policy and decision makers that impacts us all. This work feels more important now than ever.”

Richard will be working with the outgoing director, Ruth Ormston, during a handover period for the next few weeks. We look forward to introducing him to you on screen or in person soon, but in the meantime, we hope you’ll join us in congratulating and welcoming Richard into the MI fold.
