Mindfulness Practices in Political Institutions Mindfulness Practices in Political Institutions is intended as a resource for those looking to establish mindfulness training programs within political institutions. It draws on the success of programmes in various political bodies around the world to suggest a template for implementing mindfulness courses that complement both the democratic function and professional ambition of today’s political leaders. It concludes by considering the ways an established teaching programme can lead to cross-party policy initiatives. Whilst these are general recommendations for consideration within a country, it must be noted that each country will have their own religious, cultural, historical and legal experience and backdrop. This must be taken fully into account when drawing up a strategy. The document is authored by Alena Kern-Marro and Chris Ruane (OBE). The Mindfulness Initiative express our sincere thanks to Alena, Chris and the individuals who generously gave their time and insights through interviews and written contributions for this document.
