Our Aims

The Mindfulness Initiative is the world’s leading policy institute focused on mindfulness and compassion training. It is dedicated to exploring the potential for contemplative practice in politics and public life. It aims to:

  1. Political Culture. Support the cultivation of mindfulness and compassion among legislators to shift political culture and elicit wiser policymaking

  2. Thought leadership. Further understanding in the field and equip decision-makers to consider trainable inner capacities in their assessment of problems and design of solutions

  3. Policy Development. Assess mindfulness research, analyse current implementation and match this with prevailing policy concerns to make recommendations for change

  4. Sector Guidance. Support the sustainable development of the mindfulness sector and the appropriate adoption of mindfulness practices in society

  5. International Influence. Inspire and support teams of advocates to further the above aims in their own countries and regions
