The Mindfulness Initiative is the world’s first policy institute focused on mindfulness and compassion training. It is dedicated to exploring the potential for contemplative practice in politics and public life and aims to:

  1. Support the cultivation of mindfulness and compassion among legislators to shift political culture and elicit wiser policymaking

  2. Equip policymakers and service commissioners to consider psychological functioning and relevant, trainable capacities of heart and mind (such as mindfulness) in their assessment of problems and design of solutions

  3. Assess mindfulness research, analyse current implementation and match this with prevailing public policy concerns to make recommendations for change

  4. Support the sustainable development of the mindfulness sector and the appropriate adoption of mindfulness practices in society

  5. Support teams of advocates in other countries to further the above aims
