We were delighted to welcome Prof Dan Siegel to Westminster on 6th February for an event hosted by the Mindfulness APPG. It was 'standing room only' for Dan's talk Awareness and Interpersonal Neurobiology: Insights for Leadership and Education. MPs, members of the House of Lords, parliamentary staff, civil servants and educationalists enjoyed the talk and lively discussion that followed.

From Dan's talk:

"Where attention goes, neural firing flows, and neural connection grows. You can empower children in school, adolescents in school, people who are teachers or first responders, or parliamentarians, to learn to be empowered to create health in their life."

“...If you look at every measure of health you can find, physical health, mental health, relational health ... and look at any factor on the brain, the one factor that predicts every measure of health is how integrated your brain is... and guess what produces that? Mindfulness training.”

Dan Siegel is clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, and the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute.
